Task 1: Dolores Marat style images
Involving mirrors:
Overall Evaluation:
Dolores Marat has a particular style which involves taking photos with the following techniques:
-muted colours:
She uses muted colours in her photographs to increase the focus on edges rather than colours.
-edges:
The edges in her photos often go to one place in the image which helps the viewer focus on what she wanted us to see.
I think that my images overall contained many of these elements and i believe that some are similar to Dolores photographs. I made sure the images were muted and contained many interesting edges. I was inspired by the muted colours and how the edges came to a point. My main focus was lines and angles. I found this task very complicated as i had to take these images with the photographers style in mind. I think that my images came out very well especially the images with the mirrors but i think i could improve my images slightly by editing them to make them slightly darker and less saturated.

Edited image evaluation:
These images were edited to match the style of Dolores Marat who often has very dark or muted images with little colour saturation. My idea was to lower the saturation of the images and also lower the exposure to darken the overall tone.
Home work project:
In this project we had to create a book that contains 10 or more images about edges that are inspired by one of the two artists we were looking at.
The images:
3D Sculpture:
Evaluation:
Our task was to create a 3D paper sculpture that contains edges and then take 20 images of it. I found this task slightly difficult because i was taking a picture of an object and found it hard to make every picture look different when the centre piece is the same. Therefore i looked for different angles to change my images a bit to include edges.
EBI: I think that all the images could have looked slightly different from each other. I think i could've found ways to capture the interesting contrast of colours in the sculpture.
WWW: I managed to capture the edges in the 3d sculpture in the task.

3D Sculpture 2:
Why I chose these images:
I have chosen these images for the 3D picture sculpture because they are different and varied and i like that some have lots of colour and some are muted since it could create a contrast. The images included edges very well and effectively with colour, contrast, shape, line and angles. I think when i make my sculpture, the images will pop and bring more edges to the sculpture.
The sculpture:
Tate Modern trip:
On the 25 of January we spent one day on a trip to the Tate Modern to observe the different artworks and document our findings. We had a sheet which includes tasks for us to complete and these are the images i took while on the trip.
I like many of these images because they contain interesting edges and lines as well as the use of colour and light. I found the activities easy because i was already used to taking photographs similar to them and i found the trip fun because we got to look around and photograph the artwork.
Photoshop sculpture and setting:
These are the images i had taken of my photo sculpture and setting. in some images i have included people for a sense of scale and to make the sculpture seem real.
Post card sculpture
In this task, we had to gather images of edges, stick them on to card and then cut and sculpt them into miniature postcard sculptures. I created three sculptures and took photographs of each on as well as mixing them all together to create a creative and complex structure. I found this task good and i enjoyed mixing and playing around with the shapes, angles and colours of the photographs to create sculptures.
Personal project:
In my personal project i am going to take a series of photograms and a series of photos and create a photo sculpture or photo collage. I decided to take photograms since they are monochrome and black and white and i will take colourful and vibrant photographs with a camera to contrast and make the sculpture pop.
These are the colourful images i have chosen. i have taken the last 4 in lesson and the others are photos i have added. In the images i took today, my aim was to make 'colourful photograms'. i positioned the objects as if it was a photogram but took a photograph to show the colours.
I took these photograms and made sure I included interesting edges and lines. The shapes all compliment each other and I think this will be very nice with the other colourful images.
Final piece
The final piece is a paper photo book. On one side of the photo book, there are the colourful photographs, on the other side there are minimal, black-and-white photograms. The front cover is made of colourful, bold and abstract shapes that reflect the colourful side of book. The back cover is made of dark, black, linear rectangles. This reflects the darker, monochrome photograms and the design is inspired by the artist Piet Mondrian.
This reflects the theme of edges because the photographs themselves contain edges, lines and polygons. The actual photo book itself reflects edges as its made to be a rectangle and the covers are made of complex shapes and designs. I chose to have the contrast between colour and black and white photographs as well as long black rectangles and colourful abstract triangles on the covers to create a metaphorical line and border between the two sides.
I am happy with my final piece because it was very neat and a big improvement to my very first photo book project. I think if i could improve it, i would add more colourful photographs.

Edges evaluation :
My least favourite work has been the first photo book project because it was rushed and un neat. I later made another one inspired by the minimal design of louis' photo book.
I think that i have been able to make some great things and also take great pictures. My favourites have been the Edges Exhibition because we had to think about photo framing and layout, photo sculptures we made because i could blend different photos and i think i did some very good photograms. This is why i think that my personal project is a perfect representation of all of my work in the edges topic.

This image was taken while I was taking selfies for the selfie project. I think it includes lots of what I have already learnt.
