John Baldassari
John Baldassari made an image called 'Wrong'. Our task was to evaluate his photograph and list the things 'wrong' with them. For example, there were a number of things wrong including:
- Lack of movement This makes the image seem eerie and un natural giving the viewer the feeling this was very staged and uncomfortable. - Rule of thirds The rule of thirds is that the main piece in the picture is usually not in the center and slightly to a side to make things more interesting and different - No specific focus In the photograph there is no specific focus and this is confusing for the viewer. We dont know whether we are looking at the person, tree house or car. - Grainy and out of focus It makes the photograph unclear and loses a lot of detail. - No colour and emotion, its very plain and boring This is probably the most important mistake because it means there is no reason for the viewer to see the image and connect to the photographers vision. We then had to take photographs of our own which are also 'wrong'. |

I managed to list many things wrong and explain them effectively. I had been able to take 'wrong' photographs and have enhanced my understanding on the subject. In many of my images, I use different views, blur the image or just have odd composition. |
EBI:
I could have taken 'wrong' photos in different places and at different angles. All of my photographs are close up and I could have taken a 'wrong' photo from a distance which is much harder to do. |
