Assignment 1: Contact photo
Here is an image I took through the front door hole which shows the outside. This shows the distance and barrier to the outside world which itself is empty and lifeless as of current circumstances.
Assignment 2: Isolation Project
Game / activity photoshoot:
Since almost all of my time is now spent indoors, I've tried experimenting with activities and games in order to keep myself busy. I've taken photographs of just a few things I've been up to in the last few weeks. Furthermore, I also took photographs of my school books and online systems such as Microsoft teams and insight since I have been using those a lot now. My aim with this photoshoot was to show how unusual or interesting activities have now become the norm in my day to day life. I personally am finding this isolation time extremely useful since I am now able to concentrate fully on personal projects, self reflection/improvement and hobbies that I wouldn't usually have time for.
Digital manipulation: Photoshop
Dart board:
With this image, I first copied the base layer / original image. Then I pasted it over itself to create an identical layer on top of the original image. Next, I selected the top layer and rotated it 180 degrees. I then went through the different layer effects that were available and I selected the most suitable effect. Finally, I edited the light and darkness of the image to emphasize the dark sectors of the dart board. I like the fact that neither board seems to be on top of the other since the center overlap is semi-translucent for both boards.
Ace of spades:
With this image, I cut out the center Ace of spades card. I then copied the card multiple times and pasted it multiple times across the image in a seemingly random order. I edited the light and darkness as well in order to increase the contrast. I like that the image seems to be organized in a random order yet still remains structured in some way since all of the cards are pointing and facing the same way.
Microsoft Outlook:
For this image, I cut out the 'New message' button to copy and paste it across the image. Unlike the 'Ace of Spades' manipulation, in this image I tried not to cover the entire image with copies. Furthermore, I made sure the new copies were translucent to also show more of the original image. I did this because the background image still has a lot of detail and shapes that I wanted to be seen. I like this image because I feel there could be something to say about the repetition of 'New message' which makes it very thought provoking.
